Is Vedic Astrology the world’s oldest con? - By Dr Udaylal Pai

Vedic Astrology is a misnomer. There is absolutely no mention of Predictive Astrology in any of the four Vedas, Upanishads or Brahmanas. No authentic Hindu scripture ever support astrology.
During my teenage I came across one of the toughest period in life. My family priest advised me (in private) to consult a good astrologer and seek advice. He knew that my father didn’t make my horoscope. I was almost tempted to do so. My father is a strong “believer” of GOD, but never had any faith in astrology.
He said: “Surrender to God’s will and pray for betterment, that’s all you can do. No astrologer can help you more than that.”
Despite being born in a very conservative Brahmin family, my father had married without cross-checking horoscope. He had five kids including me. And nothing wrong happened to my parents till this day. My father never prepared horoscope for any of us.

But going into deep, I found that, my logic, based upon modern science and conditioning of my mind, is not true. The profound analysis and in-depth interpretation while dealing any subjects in those ancient texts can be termed as unparalleled. Many-a-times, modern science looked silly compared with ancient science.
Having said that, I didn’t become superstitious – contrary to popular misconception, no ancient Hindu texts promote superstitions and mis-beliefs...............................Click here to read full article: http://udaypai.in/?p=15

  1. The author of this article proudly states that "There is absolutely no mention of Predictive Astrology in any of the four Vedas, Upanishads or Brahmanas" but Jyotish was first mentioned in the Rig Veda, and references were also made in the classical Indian epics, the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, and the classic Bhagavad-Gita.It is even part of one of the six ancient Vedangas, or ancillary science connected with the Vedas – the scriptures of Hinduism.
